The platting board and the platting department are both going through a transition right now. Paul Hulbert, who has been at platting for more than 25 years and is the head platting officer is retiring at the end of December. Today was his last meeting with the platting board. His expertise will certainly be missed.
Also, Dena Sorenson just chaired her last meeting because she is not continuing on for a new term. The assembly changed the meeting time for the board from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM which makes it impossible for her to attend. She has done a good job chairing the meetings.
So we say goodbye to both Paul and Dena and look forward to some changes in 2016. Jay Van Diest is the new platting board chair assisted by Tait Zimmerman as the vice-chair.
The platting board is methodically working it’s way through the platting code to recommend changes to the assembly. This will take some time but is a major part of every meeting. These changes will effect the way property is developed in the Mat-Su Valley. These are public meetings and the public is always encouraged to attend and comment.
