Septic Cap Under Snow

This winter demonstrates the need to mark your septic system monitor tubes. Many septic tubes are currently buried under the snow. If you need them quickly it’s a real pain to try to dig them up. The cap for the septic cleanout at the left is buried just under the snow.

If you are one that cuts your tubes off at ground level so that you can mow over the top of them please take this as a warning. Mark those caps before snow fall so that you can find them later.

Many homeowners have had to dig for hours to find their monitor tubes so that they can test the system or pump the tank. This is not a fun winter activity.

So mark them well next fall.
