Discover Meadow Lakes

Meadow Lakes is a census designated area within the Matanuska-Susitna Borough that serves as an extension of Wasilla and is sandwiched between Wasilla and Houston on the Parks Highway. As of 2020, the population was just over 9,000, making it the third largest community in the borough. It is home to numerous lakes, as the name suggests, including Seymour and Visnaw Lakes, which have good fishing and float plane access. The community has an active community council that has worked to support various projects in the area, including a sports field, playground, senior housing, trail development and maintenance, and educational classes for residents.

Lakefront properties aside, real estate in the area tends to be a bit cheaper than in the Wasilla and Palmer areas, though the trade off is a longer commute to Anchorage and a longer drive to access the more extensive services available in Wasilla. Meadow Lakes has its share of restaurants, a large grocery store, and many construction and auto related businesses. It is also home to the Museum of Alaska Transportation, which tells the history of Alaska using many artifacts related to transportation in Alaska, including a variety of vintage planes, trains, and automobiles.
