Ducks

Had to stop and take a photo of the two “Ducks” at the Palmer Airport. Every summer there is a regular air force at the Palmer airport. They have a lot of cool planes. I don’t know what they all are but I like them.

I’ll have to try to get photos of them all. I think the two in the photo are fire bombers that can scoop up water from lakes on the fly and drop it on the fires.

All the planes and choppers are out there for Division of Forestry Wildland Firefighting. They bring them in whenever they need to stage or head out on a big fire.

Thanks Eddie, I knew they were there for fire suppression but didn’t know which agency supported them. Thanks for chiming in with the answer.

Hey, I heard about these just the other day! An elderly couple I’m helping out talked about their son up in Glenallen who lives on a lake. He had told them he saw canadian planes fly right over his home and scoop up water from the lake for fire fighting. Cool!

I have seen this kind of planes here in Spain. The spanish air force uses them for fire fighting.
Any other cool planes put them I´d like to see them.

Hi David, Thanks for reading my blog all the way over there in Spain. I’ll try to get some photos of those planes before they leave for the summer. I’ts been rainy for the last few days and I think the forest fire season is over…so they will probably take off.
